In this series, I revisit the way we view our iconic images and well-established brands. While the sight of these familiar American products in Spanish could easily prompt conversations on cultural diffusion or corporate globalization or appropriation art, I’m hoping to induce a more intuitive response by presenting the products out of their intended context.

I found the items for this series on grocery store shelves in Mexico. I photographed them there and am hand-coloring each image. By doing this I’ll produce one artwork from each product in the series and each piece will stand in contrast to their mass-produced origins.
