Still Life Series

Inspired by traditional, representational depictions of the still life in art, “Still Life Series” is a photography project which attempts to deconstruct this subject matter into abstract shapes and colors. As a result, each still life is up to the viewer’s interpretation. For each piece, lightweight, fragile materials were used, painted and assembled to appear weightless in front of the camera, lending a magical and surreal element to each composition. The camera, in turn, captures the moment all elements come together and gives permanence to these ephemeral sculptural forms.

This project is the result of my continual pursuit to explore photography along with other mediums. An important aspect of this series, then, is the combination of photography with the medium of sculpture and the challenge to make both complementary and relevant to the final work.
